The material and application of the sealing ring

I. NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) Sealing Rings

Suitable for use in media such as petroleum-based hydraulic oil, glycol-based hydraulic oil, diester-based lubricating oil, gasoline, water, silicone grease, and silicone oil. They are currently the most widely used and cost-effective rubber sealing parts. Not suitable for polar solvents such as ketones, ozone, nitrohydrocarbons, MEK (methyl ethyl ketone), and chloroform. General temperature range: -40~120 ℃.

II. HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) Sealing Rings

Feature excellent corrosion resistance, tear resistance, and compression set resistance, as well as good ozone, sunlight, and weather resistance. They have better abrasion resistance than NBR. Suitable for washing machinery, automotive engine systems, and refrigeration systems using the new environmentally friendly refrigerant R134a. Not recommended for use in alcohol, ester, or aromatic solutions. General temperature range: -40~150 ℃.

III. SIL (Silicone Rubber) Sealing Rings

Exhibit excellent heat resistance, cold resistance, ozone resistance, and atmospheric aging resistance, as well as good insulation properties. However, they have lower tensile strength than ordinary rubber and are not oil-resistant. Suitable for household appliances such as electric water heaters, irons, and microwaves, as well as various products in contact with the human body, such as kettles and water dispensers. Not recommended for use in most concentrated solvents, oils, strong acids, and sodium hydroxide. General temperature range: -55~250 ℃.

IV. VITON (Fluorine Rubber) Sealing Rings

Offer better high-temperature resistance than silicone rubber, as well as excellent weather resistance, ozone resistance, and chemical resistance, but poor cold resistance. They are resistant to most oils and solvents, especially acids, aliphatic hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and animal/vegetable oils. Suitable for sealing requirements in diesel engines, fuel systems, and chemical plants. Not recommended for use in ketones, low-molecular-weight esters, and nitrate-containing mixtures. General temperature range: -20~250 ℃.

V. FLS (Fluorosilicone Rubber) Sealing Rings

Combine the advantages of fluorine rubber and silicone rubber, with excellent oil resistance, solvent resistance, fuel oil resistance, and high/low-temperature resistance. They can withstand the erosion of oxygen-containing compounds, aromatic solvents, and chlorinated solvents. Generally used in aviation, aerospace, and military applications. Not recommended for exposure to ketones and brake fluids. General temperature range: -50~200 ℃.

VI. EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer Rubber) Sealing Rings

Feature good weather resistance, ozone resistance, water resistance, and chemical resistance. They can be used in alcohols and ketones, as well as in high-temperature water vapor environments. Suitable for bathroom equipment, automotive radiators, and automotive brake systems. Not recommended for food applications or exposure to mineral oils. General temperature range: -55~150 ℃.

VII. CR (Chloroprene Rubber) Sealing Rings

Have good sunlight and weather resistance. They are resistant to refrigerants such as dichlorodifluoromethane and ammonia, as well as dilute acids and silicone-based lubricating oils, but swell significantly in mineral oils with low aniline points. They are prone to crystallization and hardening at low temperatures. Suitable for various environments exposed to air, sunlight, and ozone, as well as flame-resistant and chemically resistant sealing applications. Not recommended for use in strong acids, nitrohydrocarbons, esters, chloroform, and ketones. General temperature range: -55~120 ℃.

VIII. IIR (Butyl Rubber) Sealing Rings

Have excellent airtightness, heat resistance, sunlight resistance, ozone resistance, and insulation properties. They show good resistance to polar solvents such as alcohols, ketones, and esters, and can be exposed to animal/vegetable oils or oxidizing agents. Suitable for chemical-resistant or vacuum equipment. Not recommended for use with petroleum solvents, kerosene, or aromatic hydrocarbons. General temperature range: -50~110 ℃.

IX. ACM (Acrylate Rubber) Sealing Rings

Offer good resistance to oils, as well as high-temperature and weather resistance, but have slightly poor mechanical strength, compression set, and water resistance. Generally used in automotive transmission systems and power steering systems. Not suitable for hot water, brake fluids, or phosphate esters. General temperature range: -25~170 ℃.

X. NR (Natural Rubber) Sealing Rings

Feature good abrasion resistance, elasticity, tensile strength, and elongation. However, they are prone to aging in air, become sticky when heated, and swell and dissolve in mineral oils or gasoline. They are resistant to alkalis but not strong acids. Suitable for use in liquids containing hydroxide ions, such as automotive brake fluid and ethanol. General temperature range: -20~100 ℃.

XI. PU (Polyurethane Rubber) Sealing Rings

Exhibit excellent mechanical properties, with abrasion resistance and high-pressure resistance far superior to other rubbers. They also have good aging resistance, ozone resistance, and oil resistance but are prone to hydrolysis at high temperatures. Generally used in high-pressure and wear-resistant sealing applications, such as hydraulic cylinders. General temperature range: -45~90 ℃.
